It has become something of a tradition for us to host family days at water parks for large families prior to Mother's Day. The aim of these events is to offer families the chance to spend time together and have fun in surroundings that are different from those they are used to. We would like to show our appreciation for large families, because BIGBANK, as an Estonian-owned bank, places a lot of value on future generations and growth.
The tradition began in spring 2005 when we invited large families from Tartu to the Aura Water Park. In 2006 we extended the Mother's Day event to include not only those families from Tartu, but also those from Tallinn, Harju County and Pärnu County with six or more children. The 2007 events, held in three different water parks, were attended by more than 100 families - almost 700 people.
During Mother's Day week in 2008 the charitable family days were held once again, in Pärnu, Tartu, Rakvere and Tallinn. A new record of 134 families (almost one thousand people) took part in the events.
On 9 May 2009, BIGBANK invited, in cooperation with the Union of Large Families of Estonia, all large families of Estonia to skate and participate in an entertainment program at the Premia ice arena in Tallinn for free in the honor of Mother's Day. There were fun and sweet surprises and tasty snacks waiting for all participants at the ice arena. Large families from all over Estonia came - there were representatives from Valga, Pärnu, Harju, Rapla and Ida-Virumaa counties. The largest family was a family from Ida-Virumaa with 10 members.
The Chairman of the Board of the Union of Large Families of Estonia, Kalmer Hütt, noted that large families need such events very much, because the financial situation of many families does not enable them to go and visit the ice arena with the whole family on their own. "It is very welcome, that even during the economic recession there are entrepreneurs, who help the weaker links of the society", Hütt said.
